Forever and a Day brings us to the story of Grace, who is struggling to start her life over again. While waiting for a better job to come through, she takes on a temporary job as a dog walker for an emergency room doctor, Josh Scott.
Grace is one of the more relatable characters in the entire series to me, in that she’s not cookie cutter. To be honest, far too many of these characters are re-hashed templates. Grace is a nice exception to the rule.
The story also shows you the downside to living in a small town. She goes from a former financial manager to a dog walker. In a small town, there are only just so many jobs available and you take what you can get to survive. To make ends meet she does all sorts of odd jobs and that’s really not uncommon in real-life small towns.
She later fills in as a nanny for his son Josh and his disabled sister, Anna, and his son. As a single dad who also cares for his sister and an ER doctor to boot, Josh has no time for anything.
Everyone praised Anna’s character. I wasn’t a fan. I found her behavior annoying.
Still, overall it was a good story, not unlike the previous 5 in the Lucky Harbor series.
