I hate to admit it, but I’m not like most women I know. I hate to shop. Just the thought of it makes my stomach turn. It’s probably due to my severe anxiety. Being in a store with all those people just kills me and the bigger the store, the worse it is for me. I haven’t stepped foot inside a Walmart super center in years.
Grocery shopping became an issue for me. I tried Amazon but most of those items require bulk and who really needs to buy 17 cans of the same soup at a time?

The other issue I had was your daily essentials like milk, bread, and butter. Amazon didn’t offer those (back then think they have something now). I would go to my local Valero gas station and pay over the top prices, just to avoid going to the grocery store. In fact, I was paying $.75 per banana. I loved making banana smoothies but at those rates, let’s just say it wasn’t cheap.
Now all of that has changed. I get a bunch of bananas, usually about 4 or 5 for $.48. Instead of paying $2.50 for a half gallon, I pay only $1.30 and I don’t even have to get out of my car.
When Walmart first announced they were going to do this online shopping thing, I couldn’t wait and when it finally came to my zip code I signed up on the very first day. Now I can get groceries at a reasonable price and don’t have to lift a single finger, or even get out of my car. I just place my order, select a time to pick up my groceries and drive up to the building and they come outside with all my food and put it in my trunk.
I can’t tell you what a lifesaver Walmart grocery has been for me. But it’s also been great on my budget. I spent a tiny tiny fraction of what I did before and I’m also eating a lot healthier too because now I can order fresh fruits and veggies.
Another thing I like is being able to compare prices. How they do it is pretty neat. So you want to buy laundry detergent. You go to their website and search laundry detergent and just as you might expect, it will come up with a list of every kind of laundry detergent they offer. One kind like for example today All is on sale for $8.97 for the 141 fl ounces – you save $1. That may seem like a good deal but is it really? Turns out not as much as you might think.
Their website will show you other brands and prices. For example …
- All 141 ounces = $8.97 or 6.4¢ a fluid ounce
- Arm and Hammer 2x Ultra 210 ounces = $9.98 or 4.8¢ a fluid ounce
- Sun Oxi Liquid 188 fo = $5.97 or 3.2¢ a fluid ounce
- Gain with Freshlock 40 fo = $4.97 or 12.2¢ a fluid ounce
- Tide Simply Clean and Fresh 100 fl oz = $6.97 or 7¢ a fluid ounce
So by being able to compare things that way, you can actually see which is the best option.
I love Gain, I always have but do I love it 3 times more than the other brands? I mean is it really THAT good – good enough to justify costing 3 times more than another brand?
I’m not someone who used to pay attention to prices or waste the time figuring out the best deals. But their website makes it eas for me to do that. Why spent 3 times more for something? Now I get what I need and know exactly how much I’m spending on it and what the best deal is.
I may not always buy the cheapest, like in the case of laundry detergent, I don’t buy Sun Oxi Liquid, but I also no longer buy Gain.
But you know what the best part is? I don’t have to shop! I’m sorry, I just hate grocery shopping and if you do too, then I really suggest you check out Walmart.com/grocery.
Save yourself the time and hassle. Place your order for groceries during the day when you are at work, and then on your way home go pick them up.
Life is way to short to worry about grocery shopping!
Trust me, you are going to thank me for this later. 🙂
