Why do people hate me?

I started working at this new store about two months ago and to be honest, it hasn’t been easy. I not only haven’t made any new friends, but many people just flat out hate me, and I have no idea why. What can I do? I need some advice, and I have no one to turn to.

I know it’s not something you probably want to hear, but it’s really not hard to make someone dislike you. Sometimes it’s not even something you’ve done, it’s the smell of your sweat, your complicated name, the way you don’t talk loud enough, or that you talk too loud.

I know it’s easy to say haters are gonna hate, which is what you should be doing to blow it off, but I also know it’s not always easy. It’s no fun being the odd man out at work. So here are some things that make people hate on you. Maybe something will stand out to you and help you in some way.

Sharing too many photos on social media. Sounds crazy, right? But it’s true. A paper from researchers at Birmingham Business School backs this up. “This is because people, other than very close friends and relatives, don’t seem to relate well to those who constantly share photos of themselves,” lead study author David Houghton said.

The lesson here is to share but not overshare if you don’t want others to judge you based on what you post on social media.
